While California Baptist University strives to be distinctly Christian, this does not mean that only those from Christian backgrounds are admitted as students. It does mean however, that every student is expected to accept and conform to the basic policies of the University that relate to the spiritual and social character of the campus environment. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attendance at chapel services is mandatory for all undergraduate students enrolled for seven or more units. Chapel usually meets once per week.

  • All students are required to complete at least nine units of coursework in Biblical Studies.

  • Students enrolled in CBU shall respect the personal integrity of every member of the campus community and other individuals associated with University-sponsored or supervised activities by refraining from profanity, harassment, physical or verbal abuse, the threat or use of physical violence, coercion, intimidation, and/or sexual conduct outside of marriage, as defined in the Baptist Faith and Message, June 2000, Article XVIII.

  • Drinking or being under the influence of intoxicants and using or possessing illegal drugs while in residence at the University are not permitted.

  • Smoking or using any tobacco product is not permitted on the University campus or at University sponsored events.

The California Baptist University Standard of Student Conduct further delineates behavioral expectations of students. This policy can be found in the University Catalog and the Student Handbook along with the disciplinary procedures used when students fail to comply with these expectations. Policies regarding chapel attendance and academic requirements may also be found in the University Catalog.

* I have read the above statement and understand the expectations that will be placed upon me as a student at California Baptist University. I commit myself to abiding by these policies and understand that failure to do so may result in confrontation, guidance, or discipline. I certify that statements made in this application are true and complete to the best of my knowledge.
